The Algarve Biomedical Center Research Institute (ABC-RI) and the Institute for Cultural and Artistic Research and Heritage (ICArEHB) are pleased to announce a joint initiative to support the acquisition of a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), reinforcing their shared commitment to scientific excellence and cross-disciplinary research in the Algarve.
To mark this collaboration, the seminar “Scanning Electron Microscopy in Archaeology and Life Science at Algarve University” will take place on May 13th, 2025, from 14:00 to 17:00, at the University of Algarve, Campus de Gambelas.
This seminar will provide an introduction to SEM technologies, with a focus on sample preparation in the life sciences and applications in archaeology. Participants will gain insights into how SEM can support diverse fields ranging from biomedical research to cultural heritage studies.
The event is open to imaging core facility staff, including those involved in light, electron, or biomedical imaging, as well as principal investigators, post-doctoral researchers, and Master’s and PhD students who use imaging and microscopy technologies in their work.
