Integraded Master in Medicine

OVERVIEW

The Integrated Master in Medicine at the University of Algarve (MIM-UAlg) is an innovative course in Portugal, which follows a teaching philosophy widely tested and proven by reputable international universities. This innovation is reflected in active learning, in a closer relationship with students and between them and the community they will serve in the future. It is also reflected in a strong investment in research, providing students and future doctors with a privileged and unique contact in the country with basic and clinical research.

ADMISSIONS

The Integrated Master in Medicine at UAlg (MIM-UAlg) is a 4-year course, open exclusively to people with at least a degree (1st cycle diploma) in one of the areas established by the Regulation for Application and Selection. This basic first cycle training allows the accreditation of the first two years of the master’s degree, following a rigorous and duly regulated process by the University of Algarve (Regulation of accreditation of previous training and professional experience).

Master in Biomedical Sciences

OVERVIEW

The Master in Biomedical Sciences prepares professionals capable of reporting, before an audience, the most recent scientific progress in the various areas of fundamental or applied biomedical research, and of having a critical and informed appreciation of these progress through communications and articles published in the relevant areas.

CONDITIONS OF ACCESS
  • Holders of Bachelor’s degree (or legal equivalent) in Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Marine Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences.
  • Are admitted to the application, other holders of a bachelor’s degree in similar areas, subject to curricular evaluation by the master’s commission
  • The master’s commission can impose to the applicants the options curricular units or extracurricular units to fill in the training gaps.

Master in Oncobiology – Molecular Mechanisms in Cancer

OVERVIEW

The Master in Oncobiology – Molecular Mechanisms in Cancer aims to train professionals with a strong critical spirit, capable of mastering the concepts and techniques of Cellular and Molecular Biology in a perspective of fundamental or applied biomedical research, with particular focus on Biology of Cancer. The sequence of modules will lead students from bench to bedside, allowing them to specialize in areas such as therapeutic drug design, diagnostic and prognostic methods and molecular medicine.
